A unique visual arts platform in the Lowveld, the White River Gallery presents contemporary fine art originating from Mpumalanga, showcasing the Lowveld as a distinct node of creativity. The gallery also presents broader South African and Southern African artists, seeking to expose regional artistic diversity. We aim to focus awareness around the cultural significance of art, recognising art as a means of social, political, or evolutionary expression.
Established in 2008, the gallery is currently directed by Dana MacFarlane whose roots are grounded in business and corporate marketing. Dana’s lifelong passion for art ignited a career change fifteen years ago when small exhibitions were curated from her home. Halifax Art was formed, resulting in numerous exhibitions, art projects, art fairs, and collaborations over the years. White River Gallery and Halifax Art merged in 2017.
Our ethos is grounded in personal engagement with our clients and collectors; the journey we walk with each fuelling a collective transformative experience through art.
