A Sense of Place

April 06, 2019 - May 05, 2019

In her seventh solo exhibition at the White River Gallery, Karin Daymond returns with an all-new presentation of soul-infused landscapes and lichens from the Lowveld, Limpopo and beyond. This time, inspiration is drawn from recent visits to the Kgalagadi, Mapungubwe and from quiet reflections from her own veranda in Nelspruit, observing the changing view and its nuances over twelve months.

Continuing her fascination with lichens, a new series of ‘lichen portraits’ reveal their curiously secretive world with warmth and intimacy. A Sense of Space’ will be opened by long-time Lowveld resident author, illustrator and naturalist Duncan Butchart returning to White River after settling in Hermanus 5 years ago. Please join us in welcoming Karin and Duncan back to the gallery on Sat 6 April at 12noon.
